Device

OhrTech Aleph

8.7″ Android device with global 4G, Wi-Fi, GNSS and USB-C OTG

The device every OhrTech plan ships on, and the starting point for custom builds. It runs our Foundation OS, signed with our key and verified at every boot, and receives security updates over the air for as long as it is in service.

Each unit ships with a power supply and a pre-installed SuperSIM, so it can provision itself over cellular out of the box.

Custom devices

Built to your specification

We build the operating system and work directly with the board manufacturer, so the Aleph is a starting point, not a limit. A custom device changes as little or as much as your product needs.

Your app, built in

Your app runs as a privileged system application, in an image we build and sign for you, with the access it needs and nothing more.

Your security policy

Decide what the device allows: USB, ADB, app installs, network destinations, settings. Locked down at the operating-system level, not by an app that can be removed.

Only what you choose

Leave out anything you do not want, such as remote control. It is absent from your image, and attestation proves it.

Drivers for your equipment

Custom kernel drivers for non-standard or proprietary hardware, so the device works with equipment you already own.

Hardware to your specification

We specify hardware with the board manufacturer ourselves; that is how the Aleph got its global 4G band set. The same route is open to you: running straight from mains power for permanent installations, battery size, connectors, and which radios are fitted.

A different chip

If your product needs more performance or a different platform, we can bring the Foundation OS and its security work to another chip.

How it works

From one developer device to your own

  1. Start on the standard device

Build and test your product on a developer device. Many products need less customization than expected.

  2. Scope it with engineering

Tell us what your product needs. Before any work starts, we tell you what is possible, what it costs and how long it takes.

  3. We build it

Software changes are built and signed on our servers. Hardware changes are made with the board manufacturer as a production run, so they suit fleet volumes.

  4. We keep it secure

A custom device gets security updates for as long as it is in service, like every OhrTech device, with critical fixes within two weeks on heavily customized systems.

Start with one device. Customize when you are ready.

$100 per device, then $10 a month, with no minimum. For a custom build, talk to engineering.
